Osteopathy
for pregnancy, babies and children Pregnancy Pregnancy is a time of many and various changes in the body.
These can be caused by mechanical strain as the baby grows
and hormonal changes as the body prepares for birth. Each stage of pregnancy presents with individual needs which
can be addressed osteopathically, specifically in terms of
lifestyle, postural and bio-mechanical factors that affect
each mum-to-be differently. Babies Birth can be traumatic, not just for parents, but also for
babies! The normal passage through the birth canal helps
to mould the baby’s skull bones naturally. Medical
intervention such as forceps, ventouse and caesarean births
change that natural process. Babies can then exhibit signs that all is not well. Careful,
gentle work by an osteopath can help to remedy some of these
problems. Children Children respond well to osteopathy. Their bodies are flexible
and generally healthy, not burdened, hopefully, by the physical
and emotional strains that we feel later in life. Recurrent aches and pains, such as ‘growing pains’,
(which are caused by bones growing faster than muscles!)
can be eased, as can injuries from sports or just being kids!
